福島県浪江町の駅前再開発地域に、町にゆかりのある生き物をモチーフにし、地元で採れる石を使用したモニュメントを３〜５個デザインするという公共のコンペであった。
一次審査を通過し、最終の二次審査に進んだが惜しくも選外となった。

町にゆかりのある生き物ということで、「町の鳥」 である「かもめ」をモニュメントとして形象化し、触れ合う機会を設けることは、「町の鳥」を知らない若い世代にとっても、町の伝統や歴史を誇りに感じてもらう絶好の機会で、新しい思い出と共に後世に継承していく上で非常に重要だと考えた。
また、抽象的な形とすることが、長い時間愛着を沸かせる鍵になると考えた。

提案としては、カモメが飛び立つ姿を３つの抽象化した形で表現し、同じ直径２mの円筒形の石の塊から、３つの異なる形をくり抜くことを考えた。であるから、上面から見た形は全て同じ円形であるが、横から見た時は違う形をした三次元形態とした。

いわゆるモニュメントがただの置物であるのに対し、子供から大人までが出来るだけ触れ合うことの出来るモニュメントを提案したいと考え、高さや形状を工夫した。
また石のモニュメントというとどうしても古臭い印象を与えるので、先端をカラーステンレスや銅板で多い、色々な世代にとって親しみやすいデザインを目指した。

This was a public competition to design three to five monuments—utilizing locally sourced stone and inspired by creatures associated with the town—for the station-front redevelopment area of ​​Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
Although the proposal passed the 1st selection and advanced to the final round, it was ultimately not selected.

For the motif, the "town bird"—the seagull was chosen. I believed that creating a monument that allows for physical interaction would provide a perfect opportunity for younger generations—who might not be familiar with the town bird—to take pride in the town's traditions and history, thereby helping to pass this legacy on to future generations alongside new memories.
I also felt that an abstract form would be key to fostering a lasting sense of attachment over time.

My proposal involved representing a seagull taking flight through three abstract forms, all carved from cylindrical stone blocks of the same two-meter diameter. Consequently, while the shapes appear identical as circles when viewed from above, they present distinct profiles when viewed from the side, creating unique three-dimensional forms.

Unlike conventional monuments that serve merely as static objects, I aimed to design a piece that people of all ages—from children to adults—could physically interact with, carefully considering its height and shape.
Furthermore, as stone monuments can often feel old-fashioned, I sought to create a design that would appeal to diverse generations by capping the tips with colored stainless steel or copper plating.
